Contract Best Practices
1. Keep Language Clear
Avoid legal jargon where possible. The contract should be understood by anyone reading it. If a clause is confusing, it may not hold up in a dispute.
2. Be Specific About Deliverables
Vague terms like "lots of photos" lead to disputes. Specify minimum image counts, delivery format, and timeline.
3. Get Signatures Before Work
Never start work without a signed contract and retainer payment. This protects both parties.
4. Use Digital Signatures
Electronic signatures are legally valid in most jurisdictions and make the process smoother for everyone.
5. Review and Update Annually
Laws change, your business evolves, and lessons are learned. Review your contract at least once a year.
